Our Story

The Tri-State STEM+M School is unique to our region in a number of ways.

We are the first dedicated STEM high school in our region of Appalachia. We are also the first dedicated STEM high school that allows enrollment for students from Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

The school is accredited by the Ohio Department of Education and, as a public school, is free to Ohio students. The school currently has an open-enrollment policy and accepts student enrollments on a first-come-first-serve basis, regardless of geographic boundaries.

The brainchild of Dr. Howard, the school was opened to students in Fall of 2017.

Tri-State STEM+M utilizes student-directed learning methods and a mastery system of evaluations to foster innovation, collaboration, knowledge retention, and readiness for the workforce. Students can move at their own pace and earn college credits from Ohio University or Marshall University.

One of the goals of the STEM+M school is to prepare students for STEM+M careers which will allow them to stay in our region and significantly impact our regional economy.
